A late starter who trained as a mechanic and worked as a ski instructor around Gap before winning France's Rallye Jeunes talent contest at 21. Holds an outright record ten Rallye Monte-Carlo victories. Has contested self-selected partial programmes by choice since 2022 and won the 2025 title regardless, becoming at 41 the oldest world rally champion in history. Renowned as much for tyre strategy and race management as for outright pace.
