🇫🇮 Teemu Suninen
The Racing Factory - Motorsport Solutions
About
One of the more quietly unlucky careers in the modern championship. Suninen arrived from Tuusula with the usual Finnish credentials — a WRC3 class win on his debut at Rally Finland in 2014 — and climbed through WRC2 quickly enough to be an M-Sport Ford works driver by 2018.
The top-flight years never quite converted. A first podium came in Portugal in 2018 and his best result, second in Sardinia, arrived the following year; across eighty starts in the senior class he has not yet won a rally. He left M-Sport mid-2021, found a home at Hyundai developing the i20 N Rally2, and took a Rally1 drive at Rally Estonia in 2023 without a full programme behind it.
A year out of the car in 2025 would end many careers at thirty-one. Instead he came back across two championships at once, running selected WRC2 rounds in a Toyota and a full European campaign in a Škoda, and winning in both. He has been explicit that the aim is a return to the top class, timed at the championship's next technical reset rather than at the next available seat.
